Tutorial: Everyday Eye Look For Spring

Fenty’s perfect palette for gorgeous and glowing makeup

Having a go-to eye look for each season can make getting ready in the morning so much quicker and easier. Being able to create that eye look using just one palette makes it even easier. Luckily, I have an amazing palette perfect for springtime: Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty Bomb Posse Mega Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette.

This is one of my favorite palettes because it uses some beautiful neutrals with a little bit of pink added in, and it has everything you need from matte shades to shimmers to a little bit of glitter. It’s also so small and compact that it’s easy to travel with and apply on the go. The shadows themselves are smooth, crease-resistant, and long-wearing as well.

Using this palette only, I’m going to tell what an everyday eye combination can look like.

I start with Vanilla Cake, which is a perfect light neutral matte shade. I pat it on my lid to prep, lighten, and highlight it, and so I can get a bit more pigmentation out of the shadows that follow.

I like using these types of shades to set the eyes, especially if the face makeup is already done and there’s some concealer on the lids because it’ll crease. You also don’t want your eyes to be too tacky when you put actual color on, or else it’ll just patch, which I learned the hard way.

Next, I mix together Cinnna’Butta and Bare Bunz, two beautiful matte shades, to create the perfect crease transition shade for me, and I used a crease brush to just buff this into my crease. I am a big advocator for mixing shades when applying different steps because it customizes what things look like on your skin complexion, so while I do mix shades, you don’t have to.

This second step is one I do no matter what my eyeshadow look is. Transition shades are important to help blend your crease before you start going in with any color, whether you’re doing a neutral everyday soft eye or something bolder. It just helps with the blending process later and makes it easier.

After I blended my crease, I also combined the shades New’D Beach and Get Thi$ Bread, another two magnificent mattes. I love how smooth and blendable these shadows are; they apply easily, but they’re also the two darkest hues.

With these, I use a pencil eyeshadow brush to create a little V on the outer corner of my eye to really define its shape. It’s also okay if you get a little messy with this step because you’re going to blend it out later, but this is where you start to make the eyes pop.

Finally, I like to finish this look with a little bit of shimmer. I like to mix Fenty Glow and Balla’Rina, and unlike the other steps, I like to apply shimmers with my fingers just to get a little bit more control over the product. If you want to go super bold, you can add a lot of shimmer here, but for an everyday look, I like to go in with a soft, light tap with my finger.

After your eyeshadows are done you can add some highlight to the inner corner of your eye, followed by some eyeliner, mascara, and whatever else you typically use to finish your makeup, but this is what I like to do to create a really beautiful everyday eye.
