After a workout, a long day of traveling, or simply dealing with life, we don’t always have the ability—or need—to completely rewash, dry, and style our hair. Sometimes it just needs a little help bouncing back to the way it looked yesterday. When those times come, we turn to one of the modern, scientific saviors of haircare: dry shampoo.
For the longest time, I’ve been using the Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo, but after hearing so many good things on Instagram, I decided to try out the Amazing Grace Dry Shampoo by Philosophy.
The first thing I do with my day two, post-workout hair is make sure it’s completely brushed through. Once that’s done, I part it in the middle, so I know I use the spray evenly.
I shake up the dry shampoo and apply it just to the place I tend to get greasy, and where I want to add more volume. For me, this is right under both sides of my part at the roots and underneath my hair all around the base of my neck right in the back.
When first sprayed, this formula—like many other dry shampoos—leaves behind a little bit of white residue, which does go away once it’s massaged in. This dry shampoo also features Philosophy’s Amazing Grace scent, which even in this spray is a perfume-like, fresh floral aroma.
After leaving this spray in for about 30 seconds, I vigorously massage it into my hair/scalp with my fingers. All of the white residue is massaged away. This formula also gives my hair quite a bit of volume and body, which is great because my hair tends to go flat after a day or two.
I also like the feeling of this dry shampoo in my hair. When I touch my tresses, they don’t feel like I used anything. After a couple of days of using dry shampoo, that typical gritty feeling can start to feel pretty gross.
Above everything else, I love how my hair not only feels clean but there’s a lot less frizz as well. There’s even less frizz than my typical dry shampoo, which is a major bonus. With the low price point on this spray, I am absolutely going to keep it in my haircare rotation for a while.
