While there is plenty to get done in a shower—and sometimes there is even more to do during hairstyling—you cannot neglect to prep your locks with a post-shower haircare routine. When I don’t set my hair up for styling success the moment I get out of the shower, I’m left with frizzy, unmanageable, and hard-to-style tresses by morning.
I’m going to teach you what to do so you can get right into styling rather than doing damage control every morning.
The first thing I do when I get out of the shower—after towel drying my hair—is to spray my locks down with Redken’s One United Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray. This big bottle has 25 different hair benefits, but the major one I use it for is heat protection.
Drying or styling your hair with heat tools sucks the moisture from the locks. This leads to brittle strands, breakage, frizzing, and irreversible damage. Using a heat protectant seals the follicle and protects each strand from heat harm.
I also love this spray for its incredible fragrance and its detangling ability. It makes the strands slick and smooth, so I use it not only in my hair but in my girls’ hair as well.
After spraying this treatment through my tresses, I brush it through and move on to drying.
I have long, thick locks. When I’ve used hair dryers in the past, it’s taken me 45 minutes or more to dry my hair, and it would still be damp. Now, I use BaBylissPro’s Nano Titanium Dryer, which is so high-powdered that it dries in just five to 10 minutes, and I never have to go to bed with my hair wet.
Then, I brush through everything again, and I’m done. Spending an extra couple of minutes on your hair after a shower will help your styling go faster and easier while keeping your locks happy and healthy.
