I’m no stranger to La Mer products as I’ve previously tried The Lip Balm and The Cleansing Oil, but with autumn upon us and winter on the way, I wanted to add more moisture to my skincare routine, which drew me to The Renewal Oil.
The Product
The Renewal Oil is a multi-tasking treatment that not only hydrates the skin, but it also softens fine lines, supports the natural production of collagen for a firmer texture, and creates a healthy, glowing, and youthful appearance.
This oil uses a lime tea concentrate that is full of antioxidants to help protect against and reduce the effects of free radicals, environmental stress, and pollution. Like all La Mer products, it also features the Miracle Broth.
The Miracle Broth uses Giant Sea Kelp from the waters off Vancouver Island, and every new batch includes a few drops of the broth from the previous batch. It helps in cell renewal as the balm calms the skin and strengthens its moisture barrier against damage.
The Process
Only a few drops of The Renewal Oil are needed to enhance your skin, hair, and nails. While you can massage it into your hair, cuticles, and dry areas of the body as needed, I will focus primarily on the face.
The most important thing to note is that a little bit of this oil goes a long way, so start with just a few drops before adding more.
This dry oil is multi-faceted, so it’s easy to incorporate into any step of your skincare or even your makeup routine. A few drops mixed into Crème de le Mer turns it into an even softer, silkier moisturizer, but it also absorbs quickly when applied directly to the skin. Sometimes, I’ll even apply it over my moisturizer to help keep that hydration locked in longer, especially on colder, drier days.
You can also add this oil to your foundation, such as La Mer’s Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation with SPF 20. It creates a healthy glow for a fresh and dewy complexion.
The Review
I’ve used face oils before, so this wasn’t a new type of skincare product for me, but I did have a base to compare it to. It’s important to note that La Mer is an expensive luxury skincare brand, so the results need to make the price tag worth it.
Because it is expensive, I wanted this oil to not work for me. However, if I only had a few words to describe my experience with The Renewal Oil, I would call it liquid gold luxury.
I love the way this oil smells and feels on my skin. It’s never caused irritation, and it’s saved even my driest patches from becoming flaky. Plus, because you only need a few drops at a time, it does last a while.
It also brightened up my complexion, evening not only its tone but its texture. I look smoother, younger, and brighter, and I feel soft and soothed.
This is one of my favorite skincare treatments to date, and I cannot get enough.
