I am no stranger to incorporating beauty oils into my makeup removal or skincare, but I love trying different brands to compare the formulas and how well they work for my skin and routine. I recently tested the Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil, and I was blown away by the results.
Shu Uemura started as a boutique store called Japan Makeup in 1967 before becoming Shu Uemura Cosmetics in 1983. The company was started by a Japanese makeup artist by the same name, and Uemura launched his line with this cleansing oil.
The primary force behind the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil comes from a more than 300-year generational tradition of sustainably cultivated and carefully handpicked Tsubaki (camellia) seeds, cold-pressed to extract the purest oil. Shu Uemura also selects sustainable, locally sourced plants and ingredients from different regions of Japan for all of its products.
As well as Tsubaki oil, this cleanser and makeup remover also uses seven other botanical oils to break down and remove impurities as well as even the most stubborn long-lasting or waterproof makeup, including foundations, lipsticks, and mascaras. It uses 75% skincare ingredients to protect and nourish the skin without drying it out. It also minimizes the appearance of pores while creating a softer, smoother, hydrated complexion.
The number one reason I love this oil is simple: I’m lazy! I don’t want to have to spend a lot of time removing my makeup and washing my face with multiple products, and this oil works quickly and easily, and you just need to wash it off after without needing to double cleanse.
This cleanser is also great for both oily and dry skin; it’s gentle enough for oily skin to remove impurities without leaving a “greasy” feeling, and it helps stabilize the skin barrier to prevent dryness. It’s even more perfect as we head into the colder and drier seasons when every skin type needs a little extra protection and moisture.
The other thing that really impressed me about this formula is how quickly I noticed a change in my skin. Typically, it takes a month or more to see noticeable results from trying a new type of skincare, but the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil boasts visible results in eight days. Personally, I saw a difference in just under a week where my dull skin looked healthier and I had a noticeable glow.
This gentle cleanser also has a wonderful natural scent, a luxurious cashmere-soft texture, and it’s perfect for daily use as it doesn’t strip the skin.
