I’m in the process of growing out my color-treated hair, and it takes a lot to keep it looking good and feeling healthy. While trying to manage my damage, I’ve tried a lot of different products, but so many leave my locks feeling overly dry or greasy, weighed down, or coated in a scent I hate. That is until I tried the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil.
For those unfamiliar with Olaplex, it’s a line of haircare products designed to treat all different hair types, troubles, and goals. Previously, we’ve looked at the No.3 Hair Perfector treatment, the No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner, and the No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask and No.6 Bond Smoother, but this ultra-lightweight oil does more than just cleanse or hydrate hair.
Let me just start by saying that this is the best oil I’ve tried for my damaged hair by far. It looks and performs like liquid gold.
This styling oil repairs and strengthens each strand while improving its look and feel. It adds shine and leaves a soft and silky texture while taming frizz. It leaves locks with more vibrant color and a smooth finish, plus it protects against heat damage during styling.
You can use this oil in a couple of different ways. It’s a small bottle—which is perfect for traveling!—but you only need a couple drops to get the job done. I like to focus on my ends while also smoothing over the middle of my hair to minimize any flyaways.
I love also how this oil has almost no fragrance, and the light scent it does have smells wonderful but doesn’t “stick” to my mane. It’s also lightweight, so it doesn’t create a weighed down, greasy-looking finish, but does help with tangles, roughness, and dryness.
For those worried about the ingredients for this oil, it’s rocking a vegan and cruelty-free formula made without DEA, aldehydes, formaldehyde, gluten, nuts, paraben, sulfates, phthalates, or phosphate. You can use it on wet or dry hair, but I especially recommend it before heat styling for protection and frizz-reduction.
My hair wouldn’t look as good or healthy as it does without this high-quality oil; I can’t live without it.
