About Dionis’ Goat Milk
Every Dionis skincare product uses responsibly sourced goat milk from privately-owned family farms in the US.
These dairy goats are fed a balanced, vegetarian diet full of nutrients and free of antibiotics, hormones, animal by-products, and preservatives. At the farms, the goats have plenty of open space to roam around during the day, and shelter is always available for protection from seasonal elements such as extreme heat, cold, or rain. The farms are also regularly inspected by state and county agencies to ensure skincare products you—and your skin—can feel good about.
Why use goat milk in skincare?
With a similar pH to human skin, goat milk is one of the best ways to cleanse and moisturize, without leaving a greasy residue. Goat milk is also naturally enriched with high amounts of protein, fat, and vitamins A, D, and E, as well as lactic acid to smooth the skin by exfoliation. It also contains whey protein to enhance the skin’s appearance, and it not only hydrates the skin but helps it maintain its own moisture.
The Story
It all started in 1982 on a goat farm in the highlands of Virginia.
Inspired by her love of goats and goat milk, Kate Crosby began hand-making goat milk bar soap. After family and friends raved about the formula, and with more goat milk than she knew what to do with, she started selling her soaps in her local community as Dionis Goat’s Milk Soap, named after Dionis Beach in Nantucket, a place Crosby had fond memories while growing up.
With rising local sales, Crosby pitched her products at a Cracker Barrel with goat in hand, which lead to her products being sold in all Cracker Barrel stores nationwide. Dionis continued to grow with the expansion of goat milk hand creams, lotions, and more.
With this expansion, Crosby sought the help of the Ott family, based in Warrington, Pennsylvania, to produce her products. After her retirement, they promised to continue her legacy.
The current CEO of Dionis, Karen Minsky, continues Crosby’s vision, with strong, female-run leadership, strict quality guidelines, and of course, goat milk in every product. Today, Dionis Goat Milk Skincare is still a privately-owned company headquartered in Newtown, PA.
