Soo-Young Kang, Ph.D. worked in the beauty industry for two decades, trained in medical research, and eventually went into beauty product development.

On top of using less packaging and taking a comprehensive and thoughtful approach to packaging by reducing, reusing, and recycling, LightWater follows several sustainability and responsibility initiatives. The brand’s Clean Act promises the exclusions of several suspicious ingredients, ensuring its formulations are certified microbiome-friendly.

Some exclusions include preservatives, sulfates, silicones, PEGs, phthalates, allergens, and all other known irritants. While they also don’t use any fragrances (synthetic or natural), some ingredients may have a naturally occurring, but pleasant, mild, earthy scent.
