Celebrity Beauty Profile: Zendaya

Celebrity Beauty Profile: Zendaya

Superstar Zendaya has worn many hats in her young career from Disney Darling to singer, A-list actress to fashion icon, and always a beauty trendsetter. More recently, Zendaya also added makeup artist to her ever-expanding resume.

In recent years, there have been more occasions where the star has forgone a professional makeup artist and beat her own face for major red-carpet events. Not surprisingly, she has the talent, with many of her DIY looks landing atop “best makeup” lists.

Zendaya credits her makeup prowess to picking up tips and techniques by watching professionals paint her face over the years. Viewing YouTube makeover tutorials since she was a young girl also helped hone her skills. She even did her own makeup for the Oscars and Vanity Fair after-party in 2022, creating a totally different, edgier, and more dramatic look for the latter.

Both looks were well received by critics and fans alike. Zendaya mostly does her own makeup for events now, telling Vogue that she finds the process therapeutic and personal time relaxing.

At 25, the actress has become renowned for her unconventional and unpredictable style and beauty choices. She consistently knocks it out of the park and outdoes herself with unique and glamorous red-carpet looks. The youngest ever Emmy Award-winning Lead Actress Euphoria star is one of Gen Z’s favorite muses with more than 139 million followers watching her every move on Instagram.

In 2019, at the age of 22, Zendaya was named the youngest ever beauty ambassador to global French luxury brand Lancôme. She prefers to go fresh-faced sans makeup in her daily life, but when duty calls for glamming it up, Lancôme is, not surprisingly, the brand she most often turns to. Here are the Lancôme products Zendaya and her long-time makeup artist Sheika Daley (who has painted the star’s face for the Met Gala, Oscars, and all Lancôme campaigns) use to get her face camera ready.

LancĂ´me Teint Idole Ultra Liquid Foundation

Zendaya wore this to the 2021 Oscars. It is a lightweight, oil-free, breathable, full-coverage foundation with a flawless, matte finish and 24-hour wear.

LancĂ´me Blush Subtil Powder Blush

The actress also wore this product to the 2021 Oscars. It is a luxurious, silky, oil-free powder blush that melts into the skin and stays color-true for hours.

LancĂ´me Teint Idole Ultra Wear Highlighter Stick

This lightweight, super buildable stick features a cream-to-powder finish that glides onto skin for extra illumination in a single swipe.

LancĂ´me Brow Define Pencil

As well as waterproof, long-lasting, and self-sharpening color with a precision tip for accuracy, this pencil also has a spoolie brush for easy blending. Zendaya wears it with a brow gel on top to keep the hairs of her perfectly defined arches in place.

LancĂ´me Le Crayon Kohl Eyeliner

On Instagram, Zendaya said she prefers to do this liner herself with just a little bit on her outer corners. This creamy-smooth pencil delivers bold color that glides on effortlessly.

LancĂ´me Monsieur Big Mascara

This is the actress’s all-time favorite product (according to her post on Instagram) because it gives the effect of false lashes. It is a 12x volumizing and lengthening mascara with smudge-proof color for up to 24 hours of wear.

LancĂ´me Lash Idole Mascara

This is another of Zendaya’s favorites. Again on Instagram, she said with this mascara she doesn’t need to curl her lashes and they never get clumpy. This mascara is clump-free with a curved wand that pushes up and fans out lashes for an open-eye effect that lasts up to 24 hours.

Lancôme L’absolu Rouge Intimatte Lipstick

With its lightweight, creamy, and buildable formula, this lipstick delivers a non-drying, blurred, soft-matte finish. Zendaya likes to blend the shades Burning Lips and Kind of Sexy for a unique red pout.

Zendaya’s Skincare Routine:

You might think maintaining such an immaculate complexion would require an around-the-clock team, but Zendaya’s skincare routine is surprisingly low-maintenance and affordable.

Her morning routine starts with cleansing her face. The cleansers she is partial to are SheaMoisture’s African Black Soap and Lancôme’s Miel-En-Mousse Foaming Cleanser. Next, she tones with a rosewater-infused witch hazel toner, like this one from Mario Badescu.

She never skips moisturizing either, which is the next step using one of these: CeraVe’s AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 or Mario Badescu’s Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30. Zendaya told Glamour her absolute non-negotiable when it comes to skincare is sunscreen, and Lancôme’s UV Expert Aqua Gel SPF 50 is her go-to.

To keep her lips soft and moist, she always carries a tube of Aquaphor. Finally, a spritz of Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater seals the deal.

The star told British Vogue that she never goes to sleep without thoroughly removing all her makeup and completing her nighttime routine, which starts with the same cleansing and toning she does in the morning. From there, she spot checks any problem areas with tea tree oil, like this one from Apivita.

To help de-puff her under-eyes and keep skin hydrated, she uses Mario Badescu’s Ceramide Eye Gel. Finally, she smooths on a layer of vitamin E oil like this one from Derma E to rejuvenate her skin and block free radicals as she sleeps.

Zendaya also loves a good face mask and uses them regularly for a variety of reasons.

When she wants to feel pampered, she uses Lancôme’s Advanced Genifique Hydrogel Melting Mask for instant radiance. To wipe out blemishes when her skin is breaking out, she turns to the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores.

For an instant glow, she uses La Mer’s The Intensive Revitalizing Mask. Before a red-carpet event, Zendaya’s makeup artist Sheika Daley prefers to apply Natura Bisse’s Diamond Ice Lift Mask for instantly hydrating, tightening, and firming effects.
