With the upcoming theatrical release of the Barbie movie and all things hot pink reigning supreme thanks to Barbiecore, this is the perfect time to reveal some of Margot Robbie’s beauty routine secrets. The gorgeous and talented Robbie is, of course, the star of the much-anticipated Barbie film based on the Mattel doll of the same name.
Robbie is known for her casual elegance and fresh-faced, minimalist approach to glam as much as for her talent as an actress. At 32, she has two Academy Awards, three Gold Globe Awards, and six Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, proving how she is much more than a pretty face.
Born and raised in Queensland, Australia, Robbie began her acting career as a teenager on a local television soap opera, Neighbours, from 2008–2011. The role was originally meant to be a guest character but was upgraded to a regular cast member after Robbie made her debut.
In 2011, she moved to America and joined the cast of the period drama, Pan Am, in a lead role. The ill-fated series was short-lived and canceled after only one season due to failing ratings.
From there, Robbie transitioned into feature films.

Her breakout role came in 2013’s Martin Scorsese-directed black comedy The Wolf of Wall Street. It was an improvised slap on co-star Leonardo DiCaprio during the audition that ultimately won her the role, a role that received praise and positive reviews, particularly for her Brooklyn accent. The film was a critical and box office success, grossing $392 million worldwide, making it Scorsese’s highest-grossing film ever.
Robbie carefully chooses the projects she gets involved with and is known as much for her work in blockbuster films as she is for independent ones. She has received mostly positive reviews for her performances, even on projects that were not well-received by critics.
There seems to be no accent Robbie cannot master on-screen. In addition to the Brooklyn accent she adopted for Wolf of Wall Street, her repertoire of dialects also includes British for About Time, Appalachian for Z for Zachariah, and Pacific Northwest for I, Tonya.
In 2014, Robbie launched her own production company with future husband, assistant director-turned-producer, Tom Ackerly. Inspired by Charlie Chaplin, they named it LuckyChap Entertainment. The company focuses on female-driven film and television productions.
LuckyChap Entertainment’s first release was I, Tonya in 2017. The film was well-received and earned multiple Oscar nominations, including Robbie in the Best Actress category for her portrayal of Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding. In preparation for the role, Robbie met with Harding, spent months training with a choreographer for the rigorous skating scenes, and worked with a vocal coach to nail Harding’s accent.
Other projects LuckyChap Entertainment produced include Birds of Prey, Promising Young Woman, and the Hulu series Dollface. Other projects Robbie has starred in include Suicide Squad, the voice of Flopsy Rabbit in Peter Rabbit, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Bombshell, Birds of Prey, and, of course, the upcoming Barbie.
In addition to acting, Robbie staunchly supports human, women’s, and LGBTQ rights, as well as gender equality. She has lent her name and time and raised money for causes like the Motion Picture & Television Fund, BGC Global Charity, UN Refugee Agency, Oxfam, UNICEF, Time’s Up, Youngcare, and same-sex marriage in her native country Australia.
In 2019, Robbie was ranked by Forbes as one of the highest-paid actresses in the world. In 2021, she was named one of the most influential women in entertainment by The Hollywood Reporter, and since 2016, Robbie has been an ambassador for such brands as Calvin Klein, Nissan, and Chanel. In fact, she was the last brand ambassador hand-picked for Chanel by designer Karl Lagerfeld before his death in 2019.
With her blonde locks, bronzed skin, ice-blue eyes, and wide smile, Robbie personifies healthy, effortless beauty. According to Vogue Australia, there are ten skincare and beauty products the actress uses as part of her regular routine.
Robbie claims she never, ever sleeps with her makeup on. No matter how long a day on set or how late a crazy night out, she always removes all her makeup before bed, and her remover of choice is makeup wipes.
These facial wipes from CeraVe are effective, gentle, and hydrating. They are dermatologist-developed and gently remove dirt, oil, and makeup (even tough waterproof formulas) without disrupting the skin’s protective moisture barrier. Formulated with glycerin and three essential ceramides to lock in moisture, they are non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, oil-free, allergy-tested, and suitable for all skin types.
After her makeup has been removed, Robbie uses Peter Thomas Roth’s Max Complexion Correction Pads, which she also loves for their travel convenience. These powerful pads are recommended for normal, combination, and oily skin types and have a fresh peach scent. They are saturated in a combination of maximum strength 2% salicylic acid and 10% glycolic acid.
Salicylic acid clears acne, blemishes, and blackheads while preventing future breakouts. Glycolic acid exfoliates to brighten the skin, refine pores, and improve the look of fine lines and uneven skin tones and textures. Aloe, allantoin, and chamomile also work together to soothe the skin.
Robbie loves a good face mask, and one she is particularly obsessed with is the 111SKIN Y Theorem Bio Cellulose Facial Mask. These masks are formulated to soothe and strengthen stressed-out skin with infused complexes that repair and rejuvenate. The Bio-Cellulose material is used on burn victims and acts as a second skin that allows for superior penetration of ingredients.
This mask also contains sea anemone and Ectoin to shield the skin from environmental damage. NAC Y2 dramatically reduces damage already done as well as promoting a brighter, plumper complexion.
When it comes time to moisturize, Robbie prefers the decadent La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream. This indulgent cream totally transforms the skin with outstanding firming and lifting benefits and includes a sleek spatula to minimize bacterial contamination.
Caviar extract—with bioengineered forms of the ingredient’s most potent components—enhances the skin’s firmness and elasticity. The unique formulation is enriched with La Prairie’s Exclusive Cellular Complex that helps increase tautness and suppleness while alpha hydroxy acids gently exfoliate and retexturize the skin’s surface. Hydrating ingredients remastered with Caviar Premier attract, bind, and replenish moisture deep within the skin.
If she is going to an industry event in public, Robbie wears a medium-to-full-coverage foundation that’s long-wearing and stays put for hours without looking heavy. That foundation is Suqqu’s The Cream Foundation. The rich texture blends seamlessly to provide a lit-from-within glow that changes over time in three stages.
When first applied, the top glow provides a sheer, fresh, moisture-rich glow with reflection oils. The middle glow occurs after the reflection oils absorb into the skin, causing pearlescent pigment, mica, and Glow Liquid*2 to reflect light and create an even, radiant glow. The base glow happens when sebum mixes with the Glow Liquid*2 and increases the pigment’s transparency which results in a natural, dewy glow.
The formula is also infused with 13 types of Japanese beauty extracts.

For her everyday personal life, Robbie opts for lighter coverage and reaches for Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector SPF 30. This lightweight skincare/makeup hybrid provides sheer coverage for a no-makeup look with a natural, dewy finish.
Macadamia and kukui seed oils increase the skin’s moisture levels for 24 hours of hydration while tamarind seed extract helps retain it and prevent water evaporation. Glycerin softens fine lines as silica-treated pigments create a soft-focus finish. Vitamins C and E shield against environmental aggressors, and SPF 30 provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
If she is not working, Robbie steers clear of lipstick as she claims she gets it everywhere, and instead uses a tinted lip balm for a hint of color on her pout; Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm, to be exact, in either Rose or Pink Blossom. This 100% natural-origin balm combines eight hours of moisture with a soft tint of color. Available in a variety of sheer shades, these balms are formulated without parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, or SLS.
Another favorite tinted lip balm of Robbie’s is Fresh Sugar’s Lip Treatment. This best-selling lip balm offers 24 hours of hydration with sheer, buildable color that adjusts to different skin tones. Infused with sugar and plant-based fruit oils to moisturize, plump, smooth, soften, and soothe lips, this balm also uses vitamins C and E to help protect the thinner, more delicate skin of the lips.
Robbie is all about a good facial spritz to refresh and rehydrate on the go, and one she uses often is Aesop’s Immediate Moisture Hydrosol. Just two or three pumps of this light, refreshing facial mist offers an immediate, uplifting boost to dry, dehydrated skin.
Formulated with nourishing botanical actives such as rose petals, bergamot, and chamomile to revive the complexion, this mist can be used on bare skin or over makeup. It is suitable for all skin types and is ideal for airplanes, the office, or the beach. It is also cruelty-free with a fresh citrus and floral aroma.
One of Robbie’s go-to hair products she can’t live without is Klorane’s Oat Milk Dry Shampoo. This award-winning gentle dry shampoo uses plant-based ingredients, leaving hair clean with added volume and texture.

Corn and rice starch provide cleansing while naturally absorbent microspheres and silica rid hair of excess dirt, oil, and odor. Organically harvested oat milk soothes and protects the hair and scalp. It leaves behind no white residue, is safe for color-treated hair, and is both vegan and hypoallergenic.
Robbie’s makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, also has some select beauty products she likes to use on the actress.
Dubroff layers pink blush on Robbie, starting with a cream formula, then a light layer of loose powder, and finally a pop of color with a powder blush. The powder blush she uses is Chanel’s Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion.
For eyeshadow, Dubroff starts by applying a wash of cream shadow, which acts as a primer to even the lids and grip the powder shadow applied on top. Her cream eyeshadow of choice is Chanel’s Ombre Premiere Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in Scintillance.
When it comes to defining Robbie’s lashes, Dubroff keeps the mascara to a minimum to keep the look of the makeup soft and allow the lid color to pop. She uses Giorgio Armani’s Eyes To Kill Mascara to define Robbie’s lash line while maintaining a natural finish.

To achieve Robbie’s pink pout, Dubroff opts for soft pinks paired with a neutral liner for light definition. Some of her favorite lipsticks to use on the actress include the NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil, Tom Ford Lip Color Lipstick, and Urban Decay Vice Lipstick.
