The SOLIDU Story
SOLIDU’s Lithuania-born founder Vaiva Zvirblyte lived in Shanghai for seven years before she decided to leave. After giving many items away, she decided to travel around Asia with a single backpack, which is when she discovered the concept of solid shampoos.
After returning home, Vaiva learned how to make solid shampoos herself, which grew from a unique gift for friends and family to a small retail business selling at street fairs and local events. As SOLIDU gained a client base, it became the most well-known solid product manufacturer in Lithuania with a growing presence in the Baltics, Europe, and abroad.
SOLIDU was created out of a love for the environment, a desire for high-quality beauty products, and a need for a simple, innovative sustainable solution.
Today, SOLIDU is a small—yet growing—environmentally conscious, women-owned cosmetics brand creating low-waste solid products with sustainability at the heart of everything.
Sustainability is Key
When a plastic bottle—like those typically used for shampoos, conditioners, and body washes—is tossed away, it takes 500 years for it to biodegrade. Wanting to reduce plastic waste, SOLIDU packages its shampoos, conditioners, and body products in 100% backyard compostable boxes.
Made from starch, bamboo, and charcoal, SOLIDU’s boxes are both plastic and paper-free. To produce the boxes, SOLIDU upcycles bamboo offcuts from the production of bamboo chopsticks (rather than virgin bamboo). Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials on earth, growing nearly three feet per day.
The bamboo is processed together with natural starch and together they are dyed with charcoal, rather than synthetic dyes. This innovative and natural packaging is not only backyard composted and biodegrades in 45 days—which is useful for soil as starch is a soil nutrient—but it can even be mixed into animal feed as an additional carbohydrate source.
The boxes are held closed by a recyclable paper label as well, which can be composted, though the boxes will biodegrade faster without them.
Waterless Beauty
Everyday haircare products contain roughly 80% water, but SOLIDU bars are made only from the necessary elements: skin-loving active ingredients, botanical oils, extracts, and natural essential oils. By eliminating water, the volume of the product is reduced up to 80%, which leaves quality concentrated goodness.
Every SOLIDU product is made with love and handled with care, with each ingredient being carefully selected by scientists on the manufacturing and R&D team, who always put premium quality, sustainability, and efficacy first.
Concentrating the products without using water also allows SOLIDU to reduce its transportation emissions, aiding its goal of creating a better life for future generations.
Ethical Beauty
On top of waterless products and upcycled and compostable packaging, SOLIDU products are natural, safe, and socially conscious.
Firstly, SOLIDU never tests its products on animals. Its products are also suitable for vegans, which the exception of the NO KNOTS conditioner (which uses silk amino acids from silkworm cocoons after they have grown up into moths), and the Natural Lip Balm (which uses lanolin and beeswax, but no animals are harmed in the process of collecting the raw ingredients).
SOLIDU products also do not contain SLS or SLES. However, some SOLIDU products use natural-origin Sodium Coco-Sulfate and Behentrimonium Methosulfate, as sulfates help remove any oils, dead skin, and dirt build-up on the skin, leaving it fresh, clean, and unclogged. Sodium Coco-Sulfate is a gentle sulfate and a mild alternative for SLS, and Behentrimonium Methosulfate is very gentle and broadly used for its emulsifying and conditioning properties.
Both the BALANCE and PINK shampoos, on the other hand, do not use any sulfates.
Speaking of natural, 85-99.5% of SOLIDU ingredients are of natural origin. SOLIDU formulates its products with the research and recommendations given by ECOCERT, COSMOS, and other organizations that guarantee environmentally friendly production and healthy processing.
SOLIDU’s products are paraben-free as well, and the soaps, body butters, and lip balms do not contain any preservatives. The shampoo and conditioners, however, use Benzyl Alcohol, a preservative approved by ECOCERT, COSMOS, and other organizations. Using preservatives in the shampoos and conditioners ensures the products do not contain any harmful microorganisms, such as mold and bacteria, and allows for a longer expiration.
In today’s cosmetics industry, almost all naturally-derived materials are at least partially derived from palm, so SOLIDU’s products do contain small amounts of palm oil. However, the brand only uses RSPO-certified (sustainably sourced) palm oil.
Finally, SOLIDU uses natural essential oils in all of its products but one, the exception being the EXOTIC shampoo. This bar contains less than 0.1% of allergen-free synthetic vanilla, as natural vanilla is a very rare and non-sustainable resource.
The Products
SOLIDU offers a variety of innovative, concentrated products, including shampoos, conditioners, body care, and more. SOLIDU’s bars work the same as any liquid formula but are better for planet Earth.
Shampoo
SOLIDU has several colorful and aromatic solid shampoos enriched with natural plant extracts and essential oil blends. These foamy shampoo bars cleanse the hair and create soft, shiny, and voluminous locks with every wash while brightening moods with their delicious scents.
To use, foam up the shampoo bar with water and gently go over the scalp, then massage it into the hair. Rinse and repeat if needed, then follow with a conditioner, just like any other haircare day. SOLIDU shampoos also last the same amount of time or maybe even longer than a shampoo bottle: about 30 to 50 washes.
The popular PINK shampoo is a gentle formula for normal hair that contains real peony root powder and ylang-ylang flower essential oil for a sweet, flowery scent. Peony roots are a natural soothing agent for the skin, reducing itchiness whole strengthening the hair follicle. Designed for daily care, this shampoo bar thoroughly washes and lightly conditions the hair, helping it remain clean, volumized, hydrated, and less frizzy.
It’s also made with pure, high-quality coconut oil, the natural antioxidant vitamin E, panthenol (vitamin B5), and olive oil. A natural humectant, coconut oil leaves hair smoother and less frizzy, while olive oil provides vitamins A, D, E, and K plus antioxidants, and contributes to improved hair condition. It can also bring out its natural shine, making it softer and smoother.
BALANCE is a shampoo for normal and oily hair loaded with natural mango butter and an essential oil mix—made from rosemary, mint, cedar, and lemon—to help sebaceous glands function normally. With mint deep cleansing the scalp, it helps keep hair nourished, and the scent mixed with rosemary helps to cool down and unwind.
While thoroughly cleansing and removing excess sebum and pollutants, this bar keeps hair healthy, hydrated, and not overly dried out. It also uses panthenol, known as vitamin B5, to improve the condition of the epidermis and helps to restore and strengthen hair follicles.
GRANDMA SAID is a very gentle shampoo made with scalp-stimulating organic nettle and hydrating, anti-inflammatory tamanu oil, which is also loaded with antioxidants and fatty acids. This formula intensely moisturizes and conditions and is perfect for weak hair that needs more volume, restored shine, and overall health. It also has a deep pine tree and cedar smell and makes you feel like you‘re in a forest.
Finally, EXOTIC has vitamin E, coconut oil, mango, and cocoa butters and gently cleanses the scalp and hair, leaving it clean, conditioned, and volumized. Rich in vitamins A and E, mango butter has moisturizing and regenerating properties that strengthen hair follicles, nourish the scalp, and protect the hair from harmful environmental factors. If your hair tends to entangle easily, the NO KNOTS conditioner is perfect for you. This conditioner adds softness, smoothness, and gloss, and easily detangles locks, making them easy to brush out. It also invigorates the senses with fresh, citrusy lime balanced out with the smell of mango butter and a note of coriander and frankincense.
Loaded with mango butter, unrefined cocoa butter, jojoba oil, and amino acids from natural silk, this conditioning bar gives added protection against dryness, breakage, and split ends, plus extra hair strength and manageability.
HAIR CANDY, enriched with argan oil and shea butter, nourishes, and moisturizes the hair, making it feel softer, shinier, and stronger. It also helps protect the hair from negative environmental factors, restores its structure, and closes the hair follicle, and features a bright and sweet candy-like scent with ylang-ylang, cedar, and grapefruit essential oils.
Both argan oil and shea butter have been used for centuries to stimulate hair growth, making it stronger and reducing inflammation. Cocoa butter has a mild chocolate aroma and is full of beneficial substances for hair and its roots: fatty and amino acids, proteins, vitamins A and E, and minerals (such as phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, zinc, potassium, and iron). Full of these magical oils, HAIR CANDY makes tresses easier to comb, leaving them soft, smooth, and strong.
The top part of this bar is designed for hair ends that easily become dry and need extra nourishment, and the bottom part is designed for hair roots that need lighter conditioning and will not weigh your hair down or leave it feeling greasy.
Soap
Indulge in a zero-waste lifestyle with luxurious cold-process soaps made with essential oils and natural ingredients.
20 SECONDS uses rich mango and shea butters and conditioning sunflower oil. With its silky lather, this soap is as gentle as can be, and yet still retains all the disinfecting properties that are so important with an anti-bacterial pH of 9 or more. It’s also scented with bergamot, litsea, and a hint of lavender and eucalyptus for a fresh, citrusy, yet calming aroma.
PURITY is a black soap made with tea tree oil, lemon, and cedar essential oils for a scent like being outside after the rain. With charcoal and tea tree, this bar soap is perfect to use on oily and acne-prone skin a hand soap, body wash, or facial wash.
Activated charcoal is well known for its ability to absorb and draw out toxins, impurities, and excess oil from the skin. ROCK YOUR BODY is a solid body wash with gentle, naturally-derived cleansers that create a creamy and soft lather, plus fresh olive and shea oils that hydrate and moisturize to keep skin plump. Natural kaolin clay softly exfoliates and removes the dirt and sebum from the skin, and it’s combined with tapioca starch to make it soft to the touch, cleansed, and smooth.
This wash also uses a magical blend of Amyris, frankincense, bergamot, tea tree, and clary sage essential oils.
Amyris is a close relative to sandalwood, well-known for its woody aroma and believed to decrease tension and stress. Frankincense is known for its antibacterial & antiseptic qualities, and it can help the skin regulate sebum production. Bergamot and tea tree are natural cleansers and purifiers for skin, and clary sage’s calming aroma helps with relaxing and anti-stress effects.

This body butter is packed with skin-loving natural oils and does not contain artificial (petroleum-based) humectants or artificial fragrances.
IT’S THYME uses black cumin oil, murumuru butter, and triglycerides from coconut oil to relieve skin discomfort, keeping it hydrated and supple. It also helps improve the skin’s elasticity, soothes it, and locks in the moisture while nourishing the skin. With its herbal and citrusy aroma, this bar smells both relaxing and therapeutic.
CALM-ENDULA features an extremely soothing blend of calendula flower extract, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E to quickly restore skin hydration and provide intense, long-lasting nourishment. When your skin is affected by dry or cold weather, chafing, or being in the sun, this body butter calms it down and promotes restoration.
Calendula flower extract has endless anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects to promote epidermal cell regeneration and support the healing of small wounds, while sweet almond oil has emollient properties to help regenerate skin cells as it penetrates and softens from within.
